Welcome to the Chado Urasenke Tankokai San Francisco Association (hereinafter ‘the Association’). We are an association of practitioners and enthusiasts in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area practicing chado, also known as chanoyu and, more commonly, Japanese tea ceremony.
The spirit of chado — literally “the way of tea” — is symbolized by its ideals of harmony, respect, purity and tranquility, and can help bring true peace to all people. Sen Genshitsu Daisosho, who spearheaded this work, summed it up with his words, “Peacefulness through a bowl of tea.”
A look at the events and activities of the members and teachers of Chado Urasenke Tankokai San Francisco Association over the past 50 years.
